Think Like A Stylist For Your Fall Wardrobe
As Fall approaches (thank God!), it’s time to begin switching up our closets. There is absolutely no fashion like Fall fashion. From the rich hues to the benefit of layering and recyling clothes from other seasons, Fall is the time to unleash our inner fashionistas. So as you prepare to shop for the season, here are a couple of tips I spotted via People StyleWatch that I’ve found helpful.
Although I love fashion and enjoy shopping (when my money is right), in the past I wasn’t the best at putting pieces together. Shopping had become an unproductive waste of my money, simply because I would pick up items I liked with no idea of how I would make them work for me. So thinking like a stylist when you’re preparing to shop not only allows you to hone in on your ‘look’ but helps you save money in the process.
Check out the six tips via @PeopleStyleWatch when you READ MORE.
- Get Inspired: Create a board of photos you love from magazines, or make one online at Polyvore.com. It’s like osmosis-the images sink in and inspire you to push your luck.
- Try On Everything You Own: It’s important to know what you have to work with. Set aside a good chunk of time-a few hours at least.
- Organize It All: Sort cloths by category-tops,skirts, pants, dresses-and dressiness level. You can look at each section and see where you have too much or not enough for your style or lifestyle.
- Lose The Clutter: Take the best couple of pieces from each category and get rid of the rest. This way, when you grab something quickly in the morning, you’ll already know it fits and looks great.
- Decide Which Pieces Are Standouts: These are items that everyone compliments you on. It can be something designer or an awesome piece from H&M. Whatever it is, keep it and wear it.
- Make a List Of What To Add: If you don’t have many jackets, think about which might fit your style. Say you’re a classic-maybe you need a tweedy blazer.
