Twenty seven year old, Baltimore Ravens corner-back, Fabian Washington is not only a successful NFL star, he’s a father and seemingly a relationships know-it-all. Well, maybe not a know it all, but in a two part interview with HDF Fabian was open and honest when it came to his take on women and relationships.

In part one he breaks down the issues in being an ‘independent woman’ and how he attempts to separate groupies from the good women. Funny and entertaining, check out what ‘Fabe’ had to say; and stay tuned for Part 2.

I’ve heard you complain via twitter about women declaring themselves ‘independent women’, what’s the beef?

It’s bullsh*t. It’s one thing to be independent and another to be self-sufficient. If you’re independent you’re saying you don’t need a man or woman, well now a days, it’s whatever you prefer; but everybody wants to somebody.

So are you more attracted to a self-sufficient woman who is ambitious and has her own?

I love it..I love it. It’s attractive to see a woman who is determined to do what she wants to do.

I run across a lot of women who say I wanna do this or do that. But when you find a woman who is actually doing it..that’s an attraction. So when you see a woman doing whatever she’s doing to make her happy, that’s sexy.

And I’m not intimidated by no woman, I don’t not care how much money she makes. That doesn’t intimidate me

So it doesn’t matter if a woman makes more?

Hell no! We can party more! Not at all. What you mean? No.

Well a lot of dudes do get intimidated by that; and realistically you make millions. So financially you’re not the average guy.

No you’re right. There are some dudes who are intimidated to talk to beautiful women. For instance, I have this homeboy, and I’ve talked to him about it. I had to tell him I noticed that you go after the chick that you think you can get. And I go after the baddest chick. But he feels that he can’t get the baddest chick because he’s with us and he doesn’t play in the NFL. But I told him, there are a lot of women who hate ball players and want a dude not in the limelight.

Or that’s what they tell you. I think some women use that as game. I mean what makes you so special that you can win someone over who despises all athletes? Some women may use that line to make you believe that they don’t want you for your money or status. Honestly, it’s hard to win someone over who absolutely despises something; and I’m sure most athletes aren’t going out of their way to ‘win someone over’; so word to you Fabe, that may be game.

That leads me to my next question. In your profession, how do you tell who is real or who is fake when it comes to women?

Wow. I think..wow. It’s hard to tell, man. You really don’t know if a person really likes you. That’s why I’m terrified of marriage. Because you don’t know what the f#*k someone is thinking about. They can play it cool as f#*k until they got you…and then once they got you, they got you.

So what are some things you look at that are automatically red flags?

If you’re around athletes chances are you’re getting hit by some of them. If you messed with like two or three athletes then…nah.

I’m sure you meet a lot of women. What makes you decide if you want to pursue a woman?

First things first. I’m sorry, I know people say it’s about what’s on the inside. Well, I’m sorry, flip her inside out then. Because first thing I need is looks. And then from looks that’s how a conversation starts. And I’m sorry, I don’t care how sweet a person is, if you’re not physically attracted to ‘em, then it ain’t gone work.

Then we just vibe and if we’re on the same level and like the same things; and if she is aspiring to do something with herself, we’re good. But you can’t just be pretty but can’t cook or clean. I can’t deal with that.

But it’s a lot of shallow guys. I’m shallow to the point where I want a beautiful woman but you have to be educated and we have to be compatible.
